Extending and managing Web ADI (Integrator Layout) – Part II

This is yet another extension of previous post, will discuss how to manage and define layout of the WebADI integrator.

dgreybarrow-2 Managing/Defining Layout

You can also manage /Define layouts, means you can build the spreadsheet by modifying the Layouts.

You must be in responsibility with access to the integrator to define the layout.

  • Responsibility: Desk Integration
  • Menu Options : Define Layout

Select your Integrator

You can name your Layout and give its is unique key.

Pressing the integrator, web ADI lists the parameters of the procedures used by the integrator.

You can now, perform some of the functions:

  1. Select which parameters should be included in the header
  2. Specify any default values
  3. Specify if the fields should appear in the header of the spreadsheet or in the lines of the spreadsheet.Any Field that appear in the header will be given the same values for all of the rows on the spreadsheet.

Now you can create a new document based out of new save layout.

Now Generate a spreadsheet to load with your new Integrator

  • Responsibility : Desktop Integration
  • Menu option : Create Document
  • Select Integrator : Your integrator
  • Complete the information as discussed in earlier post and above
  • Upload the data

The spreadsheet is created according to your layout.

Complete the data and upload.

Not only you can use table data upload, you can also call Oracle API's with the help of your wrapper package.

Will see yet another example for utilizing API with webADI in other post.

Oracle Integrators can be equipped to:

  • Export Data from Oracle
  • Use list of values
  • Associate with Oracle Forms features like -> Tools/export

  • You should note that the Web ADI database schema is BNE.
  • These table are used for Integrator Definition
    • BNE_INTEGRATORS_B
    • BNE_INTEGRATORS_TL
  • Component of Integrator can be stored in BNE_COMPONENTS_B
  • Content of the integrators can be stored in BNE_CONTENTS_B
  • Integrator attributes and layouts can be stored in BNE_ATTRIBUTES

dgreybarrow-2 Common errors

Problem 1: You haven't I been prompted to Enable Macros?

Macro Security is a setting in Excel which may need to be adjusted to allow Macros; close your Web ADI template and perform the following in Excel:

Excel 2003 and similar
1. Under Tools -> Macro -> Security, select the Security Level tab, and choose Medium.
2. Under Tools -> Macro -> Security, select the Trusted Publishers/Sources tab, and make sure Trust Visual Basic Project is checked.
3. Click OK.
4. Reopen your ADI template, Enable Macros, and continue with data entry and upload. These settings will remain in place for future Excel sessions.

Excel 2007
1. Click the Microsoft Office Button in the upper left hand corner, and then click Excel Options.
2. Click Trust Center, click Trust Center Settings, and then click Macro Settings.
3. Click the options that you want:

  • Disable all macros with notification: This will allow you to choose to Enable Macros for ADI templates.
  • Trust access to the VBA project object model. Turn on access by selecting the check box.

4. Click OK to save the settings.
5. Reopen your ADI template, Enable Macros, and continue with data entry and upload. These settings will remain in place for future Excel sessions.

Problem 2: Pop up Blocker blocking the loading of WebADI.

Make sure you pop-up blocker allow the excel file to be create and opened
