The world has lost a great motivational guru Stephen Covey. I'm sure you've read the CNN report that Stephen Covey passed away Monday July 16 at the age of 79.

Steven's books and presentations paved the way for those of us in the business of improving other people's lives.I think his books influenced almost everyone in business today.He wrote books like

  • The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
  • The 8th Habit: From Effectiveness to Greatness
  • First Things First
  • Principle-Centered Leadership

Yes, you can finally login to metalink aka Oracle my support on your smart phone .Its good to see Oracle launched myoracle support for mobile, which can help you expand online content to new platforms . Though current release seems with Limited functionality as compare with normal HTML version.

You just need to sign in with your regular My Oracle Support "SSO" user name and password, and then you should be good to go.

E-Business Suite Release 12.1.3 Now Available

Announced early this week Oracle E-Business Suite 12.1.3 is now available for download.

R12.1.3 is a purly a maintenance patch (RUP) and can only be installed on top of an existing EBS 12.1 environment. which combines error corrections, statutory/regulatory updates, and functionality enhancements into a consolidated, suite-wide patch set.

On the Finance, Procurement and HRMS there is the usual small changes here and there, additional changes for different countries. Compare to 12.1.1 and 12.1.2 had a lot more functionality that we would be interested in all.

It was big news today evening when Oracle announced general availability of the Oracle(R) E-Business Suite Release 12.1. Therefore the product which you are going to use is R 12.1.1

R12This time too the focus of R12.1 is again some of existing product enhancements across human resources, supply chain management, procurement, projects, master data management, customer relationship management and financials.

Additionally, R12.1 also features industry specific features and solutions that help drive greater value across the companies. Industries with significant new functionality advancements include Wholesale Distribution, Public Sector, High Technology, Engineering & Construction, Life Sciences, Retail, Professional Services, Communications, Consumer Goods and Utilities.

This year in OOW 2008, Oracle CEO Larry Ellison announced a new storage server product, Exadata, a hardware/software solution for offloading I/O processing to proprietary storage nodes. This is first time when Oracle moved in hardware side.Exadata is joint effort by Oracle and HP .

Oracle has put up in 22 page paper. The newly Exadata performs joins between large tables and small lookup tables, a very common scenario for data warehouses with star schemas. Read details
