Reader Question: I am very new to Workflows (but have a Java/PL SQL background). Would you like some recommendations on Workflow books, Online Tutorials, best resources at Oracle site.

You can start reviewing the Oracle Work Administrators Guide, as first step.

I would suggest you to refer below Guides from Oracle E-Business Suite Online Documentation Library :

  • Oracle Workflow Administrator's Guide
  • Oracle Workflow Developer's Guide
  • Oracle Workflow User's Guide

Then you can get workflow builder .

A good reference is: How To Download and Install the Latest Oracle Workflow Builder (Client Tool) and XML Gateway Message (Doc ID 261028.1)

Remember , Oracle Workflow Builder is the development tool that is designated to work only with Oracle Workflow.

Majority of time you have to work on customization therefore , recomendated to know the best practice.

You can refer to the Oracle Workflow Developer's Guide and also understand the following topics in this regard:

  • Allowing Access to an Object
  • Preserve Customizations

Workflow version 2.6.x has been around for a long time , is the current version for EBS releases.

If you are working in R12 , and waht to know the changes in R12 for Workflow, you should refer the RCD on new changes in R12 for workflows.

Please download and review the below pdf documents which answers your questions (select the 'Apps Technology Family RCD):

  • Oracle Application Object Library Release Notes, Release 12.1.1 (Doc ID 566521.1)
  • Release Content Documents for E-Business Suite Release 12 and 12.0.x Release Update Packs (Doc ID 404152.1)

You can refer these documents on OracleAppsHub.com for further reading:
